Tuina Chinese Massage

Comprehensive bodywork to realign the body

Tuina Chinese Massage is one of the four main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The others being Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Qi Gong. Tuina is a massage system that dates from 3000 years ago, and is seen to be the grandmother of all other forms of bodywork and massage including Shiatsu, Reflexology, Chiropractic, and Osteopathy.

Tuina Chinese Massage is a hands-on remedial style massage that aims to bring the body’s natural energy flow back into balance by treating the musculoskeletal and organ systems. Rhythmic techniques are used such as kneading, rolling, pressing, grasping, traction, and stretching in order to stimulate the movement of energy in the meridian, realign the structure of the body, and relax the tendons and muscles.

Tuina may be used to help treat acute and chronic pain associated with the muscles, joints, and skeletal system. It may help treat:

  • Joint pain (such as arthritis)

  • Sciatica and low back pain due to nerve impingement or disc problems

  • Muscle spasms, and pain in the back, neck, and shoulders

It may also help with chronic conditions such as:

  • Insomnia

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Stress related tension

As with other styles of Asian bodywork, Tuina is designed to prevent problems, not just correct them. By keeping the body's energy in balance, health is maintained. This is true not just for physical health, but for mental and emotional wellbeing as well.

Acupuncture

Balancing the body's energy systems and organs through gentle needling

At The Oriental Sage, we practice gentle acupuncture and use the finest high-quality needles.  After consultation and arriving at a diagnosis, we outline a treatment protocol to get you back on track. Generally, the needles last for roughly 20-40 minutes, and most people find the process extremely relaxing. In fact, most people tend to fall asleep.

Constitutional Cosmetic Acupuncture

Brining Out the Best-Most Radiant You

Our years of combined experience have allowed us to develop a truly unique experience to address not only your face, but also your body, spirit, and mind.

This service aims to restore vitality and natural beauty from within to give you that perfect face in the outer world. Drawing from a variety of oriental medicine modalities, including guasha, facial acupuncture, Chinese massage, and a customized Chinese herbal face mask, this treatment is designed to correct your internal imbalances while giving yourself a younger look with a more defined contour, glow and radiance.

This treatment may assist you with:

  • Stimulation of collagen, elastin and muscle tone production

  • Reduced eye bags and sagging skin

  • Diffusion of fine lines and the diminishing of larger wrinkles

  • Improved metabolism

  • Tightened pores and brighter eyes

  • Increased local blood and lymph circulation

  • Improved evenness in facial skin colour

  • Management of acne

After the first treatment, one generally observes an increased glow to the complexion of the skin; this is due to increased Qi and blood flow to the face.

A significant difference in your appearance may be noticeable after five treatments. The face may look toned as well as oxygenated and the contour of the face may look more defined and symmetric.

With the continuation of treatments, constitutional imbalances such as digestive imbalances may start to show concrete signs of improvement.

By the tenth treatment, you should see a remarkable difference in your appearance and noticeable changes in other areas of your health. After the course of treatments has concluded, once a month follow-ups are encouraged to maintain and further improve your overall health and look.

**Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments may NOT be covered by health insurances due to its non-essential nature. Please note that if cosmetic acupuncture is part of a treatment, there may be an extra charge.
